If you’re a fan of televised poker, then you probably know about Pokerstars.net’s The Big Game. Last year, this show ran opposite Poker After Dark, late at night. After Black Friday’s shutdown of the US market, Pokerstars immediately announced that TBG would not be aired in the US. I was disappointed with the news, TBG has a great cash game format with interesting poker celebrities, online geniuses, and their signature Loose Cannon. The Loose Cannon is the cornerstone of the show, an amateur qualifier staked $100k by Pokerstars. If he loses his hundred thousand, he’s off the show… but he only gets to keep his profit if he survives the week. Not to mention, the show is hosted by the hilarious Joe Stapleton, poker writer turned comedic podcaster.
I was happy to hear that Pokerstars has decided to make Season 2 available online on Pokerstars.TV. They’ll be releasing all six weeks of the season, one day at a time. If you’ve never seen the show, it’s worth checking out. The mix of players is my favorite part, seeing Daniel Negreanu play against Ike Haxton, or Scott Seiver in a pot with Doyle Brunson… not to mention a random amateur getting it all-in versus Phil Hellmuth… it’s the best poker show out there in my opinion.
Here’s a hand from Season 2. Scott Seiver is playing against the Loose Cannon… Seiver with Kings, Cannon with a hand you Encore regs may be familiar with… deuce trey suited.
