While everyone enjoys a great game of No Limit Texas Hold-Em, there are a number of other poker varieties that are fun to play. Maybe you’ve played Seven Card Stud at home, or heard of interesting varieties like Pot Limit Omaha or Deuce to Seven Triple Draw. Finding one of these games in a card room can be difficult, especially for beginning players who don’t want to spend $120 to learn a new game. Here at Encore, we’re assembling a group of players for non-Hold’em games for non-scheduled “special event” tournaments. These tournaments are starting small as the group grows, but they will increase over time as word spreads.
Recently we ran a $25 buy-in HORSE event (rotating through Hold’em, Omaha 8, Razz, Stud High, and Stud 8 ) which attracted a modest field of six players. We’ll be announcing further events through email. If you’re interesting in learning new games and broadening your poker experience, please contact me and I’ll get you on our list. You can either see me (Sean) at the club, or send me an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll get you set up.
I am looking forward to seeing our mixed games grow. In future events, we’ll be playing other games like PLO, Badugi, Deuce-to-Seven, and many other Vegas-style poker variations. We’re really hoping this will be a success as it builds, so come in and join up!
