Once again, the $10,000 Guaranteed Main Event at Encore Club sold-out and brought about an giant prize pool of $22,950.   Eleven alternates were seated, thirty-four players rebought, and a large majority chose the add-on, building up an impressive first place of $6250.

 

 

There was plenty of fun and excitement to be had playing for the great prize pool with some of the best players Portland has to offer.  I had an easy time of it,  working with the whole Encore team to bring you this tournament.  Thanks go out to all of the great dealers and floor help I had while directing this event… they’re the ones who keep this place running.  I was fortunate enough to hear a number of compliments on our efficiency, and it’s our great group of volunteers that allows things to run so well.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A number of our great regular players made deep runs in the tournament, with Peter Asch (Left in upper left image), Marc Vugia (Center image) and Tim Vanagas (lower left image) all making it to the final four tables.  None of them made their way to the final nine, however.  A dangerous final table full of experienced deep-stack players made for an impressive late tournament battle.

This Saturday, June 11, Encore Club will be hosting their $100 buy-in $10,000 guaranteed tournament.  This is always a great tournament with plenty of deep play, as well as a great field of players from all over the Northwest.  Last month, we sold out before the tournament started, reaching capacity at 130 and taking a waiting list from the line stretching out of the building.  Although we did manage to seat twelve alternates, dozens were unable to play, much to everyone’s disappointment.  Don’t be left out this time around, arrive early or pre-register at the club.  We have registration sheets ready to go, just stop in and see the front desk for details.

 

In May our prize pool was $23,850, eighteen places were paid, with five players chopping at the end for around $3500 each.  We put a lot of time and effort into making this one of the greatest regular tournaments in Portland, and look forward to seeing you there.
